Independence by design, not by promise. CLARA Standards is funded by foundations, individual donors, and government grants. We do not accept funding from the technology companies, platforms, and industry actors whose products and practices we evaluate. Once CLARA is operating at steady state, no single funder will exceed 25% of our annual budget. No funder of any kind has any say in our methodology, evaluations, or publications. Donors donate. That is all. Our complete funder list is published annually.
We collaborate with academic and research organizations to study the real safety issues — how age assurance actually works (or doesn't), what children experience on these platforms, and what interventions can fix it. This includes developing harm taxonomies, scoring platforms on their safety practices, and building the evidence base that policy needs.
Independent safety ratings for the platforms kids actually use — built on public evidence, including platform documentation and independent testing.
Systematic adversarial testing of platform safety features — finding the gaps before kids do.
The binding principles that protect CLARA Standards' research from commercial pressure and funder influence.
